At Berlin we are seeking a motivated

Commercial Director Germany & Austria (m/f/d),

with outstanding people and communication skills to play a pivotal role in all aspects of driving sales and margin in our German ecommerce business. You are someone who is not shy of complexity and problem solving, and can navigate a multi-stakeholder environment.
You will need to leverage your prior sales and margin management experience, but at the same time not be constrained by ‘canned frameworks’ and have the ability to approach each situation with a fresh pair of eyes. 

Your tasks will be....

  • ownership of topline revenue and gross margin ahead of market growth  for 100M EUR+ business
  • help set and hit the aggressive financial sales and margin targets
  • work with marketing to acquire customers in a profitable way hitting ROI/LTV targets
  • drive assortment, purchasing, pricing and merchandising efforts  
  • identify conversion driving initiatives and activities to positively impact customer frequency and average order value (maximize share of wallet)
  • drive profitable sales across different sales channels, in conjunction with marketing
  • manage product margins through intelligent and efficient purchasing, private label penetration through merchandising and other commercial tactics, supply chain efficiency and supplier relationship management
  • establish appropriate assortment strategy and determine approach for breadth vs. depth of assortment
  • drive commercial negotiations with suppliers (e.g., GSK, L'Oreal) and trade marketing activities to expand revenue sources / margin enhancers and Atida value to suppliers
  • drive biz dev partnerships to support commercial activities
  • utilization of BI and market experience to identify sales and margin opportunities
  • work closely with Finance, Technology, Operations and our International teams to ensure an end state consistent with agreed budgets and target operating models

What we expect...

  • university or bachelor´s degree in business studies; MBA nice to have
  • 10+ years of experience across in commercially-driven sales and purchasing environments and at least 5 years of driving sales growth in retail B2C sales in an e-commerce environment
  • experience in strategy, planning and project management an ability to drive initiatives to completion
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills while maintaining a pragmatic approach 
  • extreme comfort in ambiguous environments
  • proven experience in leading people through change management, and in identifying and exploiting market opportunities
  • experience of working in fast paced, tech centric environments and with international teams and businesses
  • ability to be both hands on as well as strategic and to quickly establish credibility with senior stakeholders and influence change
  • proven organisation skills and ability to prioritise/ multi-task
  • strong intercultural and empathic skills
  • fluent language skills: German, English
